Did some quick washing before breakfast this morning, everything had dried by about lunch. But in general it was not as hot as yesterday. The Altmühl was very typical this morning, of course the bike paths were well signposted and we saw canoes.

After leaving we followed the Schwarzach from Kinding. We actually recognised the route to Greding, as we cycled it 5 years ago on our way to the Thüringer Wald. In Günzenhofen we found an interesting scupture venerating wheels – it is one of the villages between the motorway and the high speed train line.

We were inspired to go to Obermässing by following article: https://www.sueddeutsche.de/bayern/bauernkrieg-greding-eichstaett-li.3233037 . As it was so hot, we did however not go up to the castle – some pictures from the valley have to suffice.

We were looking for somewhere to have lunch, when we found this village fete with classic car, tractor, motorbike and pushbike rallye – with great food to boot !

In Hilpoltstein we then decided what to do with the rest of the day.

We went swimming in lake Roth, quite refreshing…

… and then cycled on to the Bratwursthotel. Very themed, definitely not for vegetarians. We had dinner together with the other guests, Lena and Eduard, on one big table. We each had a plate of three different flavoured sausages, I tried liquorice, which was very good, Phil tried strawberry, which was apparently quite sweet, and Lena could not stop talking about her mealworms.
