Today we followed the Sieg up from near the mouth, a river with some water. Quite good paths and some pretty views.
We cycled through Siegburg and looked at the local monastery from afar- it was not worth cycling up the hill, as it was Monday and not open to the public.
Our first break was in Hennef, where we met the friendliest tourist information helper.
We also realised it was another scorcher of a day with 30°C before midday.
Our lunch break was in Merten, in a former monastery, now old people’s home, in a beautiful location and very nicely laid out and kept.
In principle we could have cycled a bit further, but there was no accommodation to be had, so Eitorf it was. The hotel pool was very refreshing, we had a big balcony to dry our washing and the view from the beergarden pointed towards the next day.
