Walsrode- Bassum, 78km (15.5.26)

Elsa and I are both early risers, but not quick starters,  so we eventually left the nunnery at about 8:00 and had breakfast at a bakery en route. At first we followed a fruit tree themed route, that took us through beautiful villages.

Our first break was in Rethem (Aller) where Elsa used to do some photography work. Lunch was in a nice organic shop/café in Hoya. What I noticed most all day long where all the beautiful Rhododendron in Bloomberg.

We were very surprised, when we suddenly came past a lot of old trains,  we seem to have found the workshops of the first German train restorers. They invited us in to the sheds, mind blown.

Unfortunately the weather turned a bit worse from then on, but we still found an excellent place for a break under a huge chestnut.

We happened to be on the mill route, so enjoyed looking at the water mill in Neubruchhausen.

Tired and hungry we arrived in Bassum. The rain did not deter us from looking for somewhere to eat, we found a Greek with a varied buffet.
