We left our very golden hotel …

… to look at the romanesque church and 1000 year old oak tree on our way out of Bassum.

During a very windy day we were looking forward to cycling through the woods a bit, but that official bike path was an embarrassment – it was so muddy and uncyclable we had to push at times.

Again we saw a lot of wonderful rhododendron, especially hedges.

Our picnic lunch was had just outside Visbek, with provisions bought on the way.

This is an area with a farming focus, I was astounded how much plastic is used these days for asparagus, potatoes, strawberries and tomatoes.

The farm buildings are beautiful!

Totally unexpectedly we passed the manufacturing plant of Kalkhoff bicycles.

But the undeniable highlight was arriving at Elke and Ralf’, being fed chocolate cake with strawberries and cream and later goulash and catching up!
