Ottobrunn – München, Memmingen – Wangen, 71km (27.9.24)

28/09/2024 by Tania Campbell

Wanted to take the S-Bahn in to the main station to catch the train to Memmingen, just to find out shortly before departure time that there was a problem at Ostbahnhof. So we cycled in and saw this amazing rainbow. We missed our intended train by one minute and just took the next one. The … Read more

Neuburg an der Donau – Altomünster, 50km (22.9.24)

22/09/2024 by Tania Campbell

Good night’s sleep on a very firm mattress, great view in the morning. Very unspectacular bike ride to the S-Bahn station at Altomünster, flat at the beginning, hilly from about half way. Managed to buy the particular dish of Neuburg, a Wiener sausage in Brezen-dough, which we had as lunch on the S-Bahn.

Petershausen – Neuburg an der Donau, 52km (21.9.24)

22/09/2024 by Tania Campbell

Very spontaneously changed our plans to cycle to Neuburg an der Donau for the weekend – I had seen an article in the paper about it. My touring bike is still being fixed, so I went on my mountain bike. We took the S-Bahn to Petershausen, through a Munich that was preparing for the opening … Read more

Dahlem – Berlin Hbf, 28 km (2.6.24)

05/06/2024 by Tania Campbell

Paula left before breakfast and I then had a leisurely morning before joining the Radsternfahrt in Zehlendorf. The route took us on the motorway for about 8km, amazing feeling! I had to abandon at the Friedensengel, though, to catch my train back to Munich. Due to flooding in the South of Germany many trains were … Read more

Mahlow – Dahlem, 18km (31.5.24)

02/06/2024 by Tania Campbell

Finally saw Paula in the morning, she only got in at 3:00am. We then walked over to the S-Bahn station together, from where Paula took public transport to our next hotel in Dahlem and I cycled the ‘Mauerweg’. Very well done, very smooth tarmac, very leafy surroundings. Almost needless to say, that we arrived at … Read more

Elster (Elbe) – Berlin, 103 km (30.5.24)

31/05/2024 by Tania Campbell

Had a (slow) puncture in the front tyre when I picked up my bike, so I changed the inner tube first. Had wanted to get away early, as there was a bit of rain predicted later in the day. Ah well, it caught me after 5 km. I got rained on so much during the … Read more

Leipzig – Elster (Elbe), 79km (29.5.24)

29/05/2024 by Tania Campbell

Arrived in Leizig by train last night, after I had worked a full day. Managed to walk around the centre before it got too dark . After a cottage cheese and knäckebröd breakfast on my room I left early, the weather forecast predicted rain in the afternoon. Once I was out of the city it … Read more

Freising – Ottobrunn, 72 km (20.5.24)

21/05/202421/05/2024 by Tania Campbell

The weather was great again, and on the way back we chose a route to the North of the airport, which, apart from the noise, was really beautiful. You could tell, that this used to be moor area, there is still quite a lot of water. Wit Monday traditionally is national mill day. According to … Read more

Ottobrunn – Freising, 73 km (19.5.24)

20/05/2024 by Tania Campbell

National museum day in Germany, and we managed to visit three totally different ones in combination with quite a good bike tour. Cycling to Ismaning marked the start. There we got a guided tour of the Seidlmühle, a former water driven sawmill. We learnt a lot, including about different saws and saw-blades, splitting wood vs. … Read more

Ising – Rosenheim, 71km (12.5.24)

12/05/2024 by Tania Campbell

Excellent ride fairly early in the morning round the North side of the Chiemsee, before most other cyclists and walkers got going. At Breitenbrunn we met a very friendly elderly gentleman, who explained the history of the place to us. Turns out, he was the local historian, and used to be a local councillor. He … Read more
